SEO Content Grader

Write or paste your draft in Markdown and watch the score move as you type. It grades length, keyword use, headings, links, images and readability, then lists what to fix first.

              How the Score Works

Every draft starts at zero and earns up to 100 points across six groups. A check that passes earns its full points, a near miss earns half, and a miss earns nothing. Length is the one exception: it pays in proportion to how close you are to the target.

              GroupPointsWhat it checks
Content30Word count against your target, reading ease, sentence and paragraph length, and whether there's a list or table.
Keyword28Your target keyword in the H1, the first 100 words, a subheading, the meta title and description, and how often it appears.
Structure14One H1, enough H2s and H3s for the length, no skipped heading levels, and no long stretch without a heading.
Links14Links to your own pages, at least one link out to a good source, and link text that says where it goes.
Images6At least one image, and alt text on every image.
Meta8A meta title and description short enough for Google to show in full.

              What It Doesn't Grade

Paid content editors pull the pages ranking for your keyword and score your draft against them: how long they are, which terms they use, which questions they answer. That takes live search data, and this tool doesn't fetch anything. It grades against fixed benchmarks that hold for most local service content.

Length is the one comparison you can make here. Count the words on the top few results, enter them under Compare with competitors, and your target moves to their median.

A high score means the page is built properly. It doesn't mean it will rank. Links from other sites, your Google Business Profile and whether the page answers the search better than the pages above it decide the rest.

              Fair Questions

What is a good SEO content score?

Aim for 85 or higher before you publish. Past 85, what's left is usually small, like a meta description a few characters long. Below 60, something structural is missing: the keyword isn't in the H1, there are no subheadings, or there are no links.

How long should an SEO blog post be?

Long enough to answer the search completely. The grader's default target is 1,200 words, which suits most local service topics. For a better number, open the pages already ranking for your keyword, count their words and enter the counts under Compare with competitors. The target becomes their median.

What keyword density should I aim for?

Between 0.5% and 2.5%, or 0.3% for a keyword of three words or more. That works out to a few natural mentions per few hundred words. Plurals count as matches. Past 3.5% the grader marks it as stuffing, which Google's spam policies name directly.

Do I need to know Markdown?

Only a few marks. Start a line with # for the page title, ## for a section heading and ### for a smaller one. Put ** on both sides of bold text, start list items with a dash, and write links as [link text](https://example.com). The toolbar buttons insert all of these for you.

Is my draft saved or uploaded?

It's saved in this browser, so a refresh or a closed tab doesn't lose it. It is never uploaded: the grading runs on your device and nothing is sent to us. The Clear button deletes the saved copy.

How are internal and external links counted?

A link that starts with a slash, like /services/, counts as internal. A full URL counts as internal when it matches the domain you enter, subdomains included. Everything else is external. Without a domain, every full URL counts as external.

How do I get my draft out?

Download it as a .md file, with your meta title and description added as front matter if you filled them in. Or copy it as Markdown, or as HTML to paste into the HTML view of WordPress, Webflow, Squarespace or any other site builder.

Writing the Page Is Step One. Getting It Ranked Is the Rest.

On-page work is the part you can finish in an afternoon. Links, your Google Business Profile and steady publishing take longer. If you'd rather hand that off, let's look at your site together. Free, no pressure.
