How AI Decides Which Business to Name
Ask an assistant who to take your car to in Deer Valley and it has two jobs. It has to confirm a business is real, and it has to find something specific to say about it. Most local businesses fail one of the two.
- Proof You're Real
- Your Google Business Profile, and the same name, address and phone on every directory and data aggregator that copies it. At Floorjack, two live listings carried the wrong phone number. To a matching system, Suite B and Ste. B are two different businesses.
- Something Specific to Say
- A page that answers the exact question asked, one service in one place, with schema that says what the business is and where it works. Each paragraph answers one question on its own, so an engine can lift it whole.
A verified business with nothing to say gets skipped. So does a well-written site the engine can't confirm is a real shop. You get named when both are true.
What Happened at Floorjack
Floorjack came to us in June 2026 with a WordPress template that had never been finished. We rebuilt the site, worked the Google profile every month and fixed the shop's listings across the directories. By August, ChatGPT was naming it for searches from people who didn't know it existed.
Asked for a mechanic in north Phoenix, ChatGPT called Floorjack the top pick and closed its answer with this:
“If it were my car, I'd call Floorjack first, especially if you're around Norterra, Deer Valley, or north of the 101.”
ChatGPT, answering an unbranded question, August 2026
The answers now quote paragraphs from the shop's service pages almost word for word. The writing on the page became the source.

What AI Search Optimization Covers
Most of this overlaps with SEO, which is why it comes in the same package. The difference is precision: listings that agree character for character, and pages specific enough for an engine to quote.
The guarantee is tied to Google: you don't pay for the retainer work until you're on page one. The AI work runs alongside it from the first month.
See what AI says about youIncluded from the first month
- An audit of what ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI say about you today, using the questions your customers ask
- Your name, address and phone matched across your Google profile, the directories and the data aggregators that feed them
- Service pages written so each paragraph answers one question and can be quoted on its own
- Schema that tells an engine what the business is, where it works and what it charges for
- Corrections when an AI gets your hours, services or prices wrong
- Monthly prompt checks across the engines: who gets named, in what order, and from which sources
Who Gets the Most from It
Local businesses where the customer wants a recommendation, not a brand: auto repair, HVAC, plumbing, roofing, dental, legal. If people used to ask a neighbor who to call, they're now asking AI the same question, and it answers with two or three names.
Check What AI Says about You
Open ChatGPT in a private window, logged out. Ask the question a new customer would, with your town in it and without your business name: “Who should I call for AC repair in Mesa?” Note who it names and which sites it cites. Then ask Gemini and Perplexity the same thing. If you're missing, these tools fix the parts you can fix yourself.
Works with the Rest of What We Do

Common Questions
Ask on the callWhat is AI search optimization?
It's the work that gets your business named when someone asks ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity or Google's AI who to call. You'll also see it called GEO (generative engine optimization) or AEO (answer engine optimization). It's the same job under three names.
How is this different from SEO?
Google ranks pages. An AI assistant names businesses, so before it says your name it has to be sure you're real and find something specific to say about you. The foundations are the same as SEO, held to a stricter standard, which is why we run the two together.
Can you guarantee ChatGPT will recommend me?
No, and nobody can do that honestly. Answers change by engine, by session and by the day. Our guarantee covers page one of Google, because that's something you can check yourself: you don't pay for the retainer work until you're on page one. How the guarantee works
How long does it take?
ChatGPT named Floorjack first for brake repair in Deer Valley two months after the shop's new site launched. Yours depends on how clean your listings are and how many competitors are already doing this work. We'll give you an honest read on the first call.
Do I need a new website?
Not always. If your site has template text still on it, empty meta descriptions or no local schema, an engine has very little to work with, and rebuilding can be faster than repairing. The audit tells you which. See the website service
Which AI tools do you check?
ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, and Google's AI Mode and AI Overviews. Each one names businesses differently, so we check them separately.
Do you only work in Phoenix?
We're based in Phoenix, Arizona, and we work with businesses anywhere in the US.
